Black horses, two black whirlwinds, they lift me up, they lift up
They don’t want to drink water, don’t ask me for aliment.
Am I running out of air Or has the hell called me
That I am scudding, as if I had wings, while flushing out wolves?

Let live, o horses, let! Let live through, o horses!
What is this eternal flight for, brothers?
What horses has the fate given me as if somebody set fire inside them?
And I didn’t live enough nor singed enough!

O, to give water to the horses! O, to sing the singing through and last!
Just a day, just a night - O, to stand on a whirlwind!

It will happen that somewhere halfway any wind will finally sweep me away
And they will drag me on a sleigh and they will burn me out like a candle
Eh, you dog with a devil face Do not rush my horses!
Give me a moment to dream Add another one to wise up.

Let live, o horses, let! Let live through, o horses!
What is this eternal flight for, brothers?
What horses the fate has given me, Both like evil beasts!
While one wants to live through And one wants to sing through.

O, to give water to the horses! O, to sing the singing through and last!
Just a day, just a night - O, to stand on a whirlwind!

I’m on time, thank God, who would dare be late in paradise?
Is it the angels that can already be heard singing for me joylessly?
Or maybe is it a ring ringing half-laughing, half-weeping?
Is it me yelling and cursing the team of mine, those two beasts?

Let live, o horses, let! Let live through, o horses!
What is this eternal flight for, brothers?
What horses has the fate given me as if somebody set fire inside them?
And I didn’t live enough nor singed enough!

O, to give water to the horses! O, to sing the singing through and last!
Just a day, just a night - O, to stand on a whirlwind!
