When I asked you, girl: Why go scaling peaks?
You just pressed ahead, your face battle-worn
From the plane they resemble giant eagle beaks
And you laughed at that, and took me along
And you then became so warm and I - so worry-free
Mountain-climbing girl, alpine angel mine
When from abyss you first time rescued me
You kept smiling, while pulling on the line
That night, remembering mistakes I made
When I praised your cooking at the fireside
You rapped my head with a bottle of Gatorade
I just winced in pain and proclaimed with pride:
Oh, how warm you are and I’m so worry-free
Mountain-climbing girl, alpine angel mine
Every time from some hole you extracted me
I enjoyed your curses like exquisite wine!
And thereafter for each peak we climbed,
Why were you doubting and not trusting me?
You joyfully belayed me every single time
Mountain-climbing girl and my queen of scree
Oh, how cold and distant you turned out to be
Mountain-climbing girl, alpine angel mine
Whenever I screwed up and you rescued me
You kept teaching me and I improved with time
After you I trudge, running out of steam
You are just a few measly feet ahead
"That’s enough, my love!" at the top I’ll scream
But, I slip and plunge, saying this instead:
Oh, how warm you are, and I’m so worry-free
Mountain-climbing girl, alpine angel mine
The same climbing rope now ties you to me
As alpine angels we both became divine
