You have not yet left behind
Many troubled years,
Worries that will come to mind,
Distant roads and fears.
Stay protected from the din
Of the night-time streets.
Let you dream another dream
Where you’re sound asleep.
There’s a world for you below
That you’re passing by.
You can see how Paris glows,
Ancient Rome flies by.
You are weightless and agleam.
Distant voices sing.
True, it’s only just a dream,
But we grow in sleep.
And perhaps, as days go by,
Many days and nights,
You’ll be able one more time
To repeat your flight.
You will fly above roof tiles,
Over land and trees.
In the meantime, sleep, my child,
Watch your peaceful dreams.
